Dear Mom and Dad,
I haven’t seen you for 7 months, since the day I caught the plane that brought me here.
This time I have been gone made me realize lots of things, I saw a different reality from what I was used to live in, and It really made me appreciate the amazing life I have there, and how lucky I am for the parents and family I have.
I know I never really shown you how I feel about everything you have done for me, and I can hardly wait to go back home and actually show you how I love you.
First of all, thank you for giving me the opportunity to do this exchange year, I know how hard it is for you to let me go away.
Thank you for all the times you forgave me when I complained about everything, and blamed you for my problems. You have been always there for me even though I was spoiled and ungrateful.
Thank you dad for teaching me how to swim when I was five years old, then teaching me how to play golf and tennis. We had such good moments together.
Thank you for being my buddy.
Random fact, thanks for teaching me how to make the best scrambled eggs in the world!
Thank you Mom for being there when I needed, and teaching me so much about life.
You are definitely the wisest, most interesting person I know.
Thank you for giving me the first book to read, and literally make me read it. Thank you for handing me your amazing talents!
Thank you both for taking me to travel all over the world; I am very lucky for having visited so many beautiful places.
Thank you for the education you gave me, for yelling at me when the grades went down, and motivate me to keep them up and be one of the best in my class, and I really was. Most of all, thanks for making me go to that school that I hated but was academically high qualified and expensive and gave me a wide knowledge and preparation for the future. Also, thank you for putting me down in a
Also, thank you for not giving me the motorbike when I asked…I know it would be dangerous and lots of kids die in wrecks…and I admit I wasn’t responsible enough that time.
I also want to thank you for the trust you have on me, on the choices I make , and for letting me hang out with all my friends…even knowing that I sometimes spend more time with them than with you.
Thanks for the weekends in vacation you took me to, I love those weekends.
Thanks for going to the plays I made at school when I was young, and for supporting me in every activity I was into.
Thank you for the first bicycle you gave me when I was six and finally had learned how to ride a bike without the extra wheels. And my first surfboard when I was 9, It made me so happy. Plus, my cell phone, my laptop, my TV, my ipod,…all that…but after all…the most important things in life aren’t things.
For me, the most important think I want to thank you for, is for giving me birth, because I AM HERE in this amazing adventure called life, with the best partners I could ever ask for, VERINHA AND YOU MOM AND DAD!
Love you,
Balé
